Why trust my opinion on wedding venues?

In case you're new here- Hi! I am Joanna and I am a wedding photographer in Charlotte, NC. I have photographed weddings in 9 states over the past 5 years. Through that experience, I have seen just how much a venue choice can impact how smoothly your wedding day goes. In the past, I have witnessed really poor wedding venue experiences and really great ones, making me an expert in what to look out for. I experience how smooth venues operate and how they photograph, both of which are things to consider before deciding on a venue. While I have SO many venues that I love, here are some of my favorites in the area!

The VanLandingham Estate- Plaza Midwood, Charlotte, NC

We're starting off with a venue located right in the middle of Charlotte, NC! Built between 1913-1914, VanLandingham Estate is a stunning estate right off The Plaza and is beyond aesthetically pleasing all around. The estate can hold a maximum of 300-350 guests, making it perfect for weddings of all sizes! Every wedding I have photographed at this venue has ran so smoothly and the galleries are nothing short of stunning.

DoubleTree by Hilton- Charlotte City Center

If you're looking for a more modern aesthetic and want city vibes, look no further! From the venue staff to the views, this rooftop venue is a winner all around. One key thing that I believe is great about using a venue that is also an hotel is being able to block rooms for your guests at the venue! This is a great way to ensure your guests are safe and have a seamless and convenient experience! I do not believe I have photographed a wedding that has ran as smoothly as this one! The wedding I photographed here was possibly one of my all-time favorites. Just look how incredible these Uptown Charlotte views are! Feel free to view the full gallery!

The Grande Victorian- Monroe, NC

Located just 25 miles outside of Charlotte, NC this stunning home has the perfect mix of vintage beauty and modern flare! The original house was built in 1884 and has been added onto in recent years to make this a great, well-rounded venue. If you're searching for a historic, yet modern venue, I cannot recommend The Grande Victorian enough! I genuinely cannot imagine how this venue would not be both a photographers and couples dream to work with.

The Barn at Blue Sky Farm- Dallas, NC

Located about 35 minutes outside of Charlotte, The Barn at Blue Sky Farm is a beautiful venue with great ratings! With five (yes, FIVE!) ceremony sites and a variety of set up options, this is a great choice for couples who want to be able to personalize their wedding to the max. Their website is very transparent, offering both pricing and everything that is included with the venue. After photographing multiple wedding here, it's easy to understand how it was awarded the 2024 best venue in Gaston County!

Edinburgh West- Taylors, SC

Less than two hours outside of Charlotte, NC, not far from Greenville, SC, you'll find this jaw dropping European inspired glass conservatory. Yes, you read that correctly, and it's just as dreamy as you're probably imagining! Not only is the property all around stunning, but to make it even better, the family who owns and operates the venue are a joy to work with. If you're looking for a dreamy, possibly even whimsical, this venue is worth serious consideration.

Merrimon-Wynne- Raleigh, NC

Located in downtown Raleigh, NC this historic venue is around 2.5 hours from Charlotte, NC. From beautiful, well kept grounds all the way down to the tiling on the bathroom floor, this venue is breathtaking. In contrast to the main house, which is full of southern charm, the Carriage House offers a clean modern aesthetic. In addition to the property being a photographer's dream, the on-site team is so easy to work with and makes sure everything runs smoothly!

Yesterday Spaces- Leicester, NC

Only 2.5 hours from Charlotte, NC, just 12 miles from downtown Asheville, you'll find this beautiful, massive property. Their vintage decor options, stunning views, and ability to customize the space to fit your needs, makes this a great choice in Western NC. Their team is amazing to work with and so accommodating. You can tell that they're truly there to make sure the couple gets their dream day, and as a vendor, that's the kind of energy I want for both my couples and myself on their wedding day! Check out Emily and Mike's wedding full gallery to see more of the venue!
